| Finally, free from HPU. I am a college graduate. Again. The interesting thing is that it doesn't really affect my life all that much. I'm still doing what I was doing before I received that wonderful piece of paper, NC just officially recognizes my ability to do it now. At the same time, I can't help but have the normal college grad mentality of "Now what?" Keep teaching? Grad School? Writing?! (To dream). I guess, really, the ideas are all still the same. I want to write, one day. How to get to that point, or if that is the point I'm supposed to get to, has yet to be determined. I guess the real question that I want answered is: Has anything changed? | | |
| Home has been a fairly relative concept for me recently, but I am at last in Richmond, ready to enjoy a family Christmas. I can also say so long to HPU FINALLY!! Well, after I pay them and everything. Hopefully life will be much more settled now. Still have no idea what I want to be when I grow up, however, I am going to start writing the Great American Novel, so maybe that'll be it. I definitely thought I'd have more figured out by the time that I got my second degree, but I think I'm more lost than ever. Oh, and in case anyone was wondering, I still have no answer to any of the major life questions that I've been asking recently. But, I'm home for Christmas. | | |
| Finally, a much needed break from all things school related! Thanksgiving was great, though not quite as big as usual. My niece and nephew are growing like weeds, and are still the cutest kids in the world, and I may regain enough sanity to make it through the semester. I've decided that HPU is the bane of my existence, and somehow all bad things can be connected to it. But, two more weeks and I'm free! (in theory, we'll see how it goes). Honestly, its been a rough month and I'll be glad to have a semester of teaching down and to no longer be a student. Maybe I'll feel like an actual person again, or, at least a little bit more like myself in some capacity. Well, thats enough venting for now. Sanity is only about 2 weeks away, as is final exams and Christmas break. If I can just hold on a little longer... | | |
| This weekend was a serious trip away from reality, and it was much needed. Anna and I had an awesome weekend of shopping, Christmas shows, and touring Discovery Place. And, before anyone judges us for spending our Saturday morning at a museum, they had the coolest movie exhibit. It showed how movies were made, had script samples, interviews with stars and directors, and a collection of props used in various movies. I have a picture with Harrison Ford's jacket, hat, and whip from Indiana Jones, and of The Mummy's head mold. Seriously, it was awesome. We also went to Concord Mills and the Southern Christmas Show. By the way, downtown Charlotte is insane when there's a parade. All the streets we needed were closed. We just drove around and around the city blocks. Oh, and police officers are not as helpful as they appear. Trust me. But, despite some directional frustrations, we got where we needed to go and had a good time there. Now, it's back to school. | | |
| Thus starts another week of school . . . I still have AP tests to grade, and I get to take a test tonight. I'm so excited! - No, wait, that's not me. Never mind. Everything's going well, mostly. I'm finally getting on top of things and not feeling so extremely behind, but I miss everyone so much. Please pray for me as I make decisions about my next HPU class and when the best time to take it is. Waiting until the summer is looking better and better, but if I go ahead and get it done now, I could possibly take some grad classes towards my Masters this summer. I don't know. I like my job, but I'm getting restless. On a higher note, we are getting cable today! Its just basic, but that means we can watch the season premier of both Gilmore Girls (Tues) and ER (Thur) the way they are supposed to be watched - with picture and sound at the same time! Score! | | |
